ASTM A513 Type 5 Tube is a Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) tubing product which has closer OD/ID/Wall Tolerances than ERW products. Produced from 1020 and 1026 steel.
Commonly used in the automotive, appliance and construction industries.

Produced as A-513, Type 1 and 2 in the as welded condition and furnished in 1008 to 1015 steel, it is the lowest cost mechanical tubing available. Wall thickness 18 gauge and lighter are produced from cold rolled steel. Heavier than 18 gauge is produced from hot rolled steel.
A513 Type 2 Mechanical ERW tube is used in environments where cosmetically appealing surfaces and light weight are required. Examples include display racks, furniture, greenhouses, exercise equipment, and many others.

Precision Welded Cold Drawn Over Mandrel, a.k.a. “DOM Tubing” Mechanical Carbon Tubing ( A513 DOM ). DOM Tubing is used in applications requiring exceptional strength-to-weight ratios like hydraulic cylinders for automotive, 4 x 4 vehicles, heavy equipment, and agricultural machinery. These uses range widely for a diverse variety of components; plungers, barrels, cylinders, etc. Also used as integral parts of moving components like high-speed shafts for textile and paper mills. DOM Mechanical Tubing is the engineers’ choice for where high strength, superior finish, close tolerances, and concentricity is required.
Reliant Pipes’s A513 DOM Tubing covers electric-resistance hot or cold rolled carbon steel as specified. Characteristics include minimum wall variation, eccentricity and concentricity resulting in a superior surface, i.e. surface density, and close tolerance.

A513 mechanical steel tubes shall be manufactured via electric resistance welding, and shall be made from hot- or cold-rolled steel, as specified.
