SA106 Gr B pipes, ASTM A106 Gr B Sch 40 are used in power plants, petrochemical plants, oil and gas industries and in boilers. Their applications range greatly due to the high mechanical properties of these pipes. ASTM A106 Gr.B Material is a specification for seamless pressure pipes that are intended for use in high temperature applications that usually transport fluids and gases under high temperatures. There are two different grades of which the grade B performs better. SA 106 Gr B Sch 40 A has a minimum tensile strength of 330MPa where the grade B has 415MPa. Also the grade B has 240MPa of minimum yield strength which is more than grade A at 205MPa.

A106 Grade B Seamless Pipes
There are different standards and dimensions of these pipes. ASTM A106 Grade B Pipes range from 1/2NB to 36NB in diameter, falling under the standard B36.10. The A106 Grade B Seamless Pipes, ASTM A106 Carbon Steel also has schedules of 20, 30, 40, STD, XH, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, XXH and heavier custom schedules. The material is used as equivalent to ASTM A53 in times as well. The composition has carbon and iron for the most part with the only allowable addition of silicon, manganese and sulfur. The ASTM A106 Killed Carbon Steel deoxidized surface so that there are no porosities or leakages of gases.
